CSU Introduces New Collaboration Initiative
CSU Introduces New Collaboration Initiative
The CSU Collaboration Initiative was launched by VP of Technical Operations Andrew Gladstone in September 2011. The first step in the initiative was creation of an internal library for all hard copy manuals and industry guides that is now centrally located and available to all technicians and CSU staff 24x7. Many of these manuals are in the process of being scanned and catalogued on the Internal CSU Wiki site. This will further place the knowledge needed by each technical resource closer to their fingertips, and will increase response times on customer inquiries and service.
The second phase of the initiative has already gone into “Beta mode”. The robust internal CSU Sharefile site is in the process of being uploaded to the CSU Wiki for better cataloguing, access and more centralized management. The Sharefile site was a project initiated by Tal Goldberg in 2007 and it has continued to provide the CSU technical staff with much sought after industry literature. The addition of these files to a catalogued, searchable Wiki database will enhance its value.
Future phases include monitoring of CSU service tickets for uploaded manuals and references that are not yet in the Wiki database, data mining into HW and SW manufacturer sites for manuals on obsolete or hard to find equipment, and focus on interoperability of cross platform components.
We hope to post future case studies highlighting how this “one stop shop” on the CSU Wiki has helped resolve customer requests and issues more efficiently, effectively and effortlessly.
CSU = Collaborative Successes Unparalleled
CSU’s technical department is one the company’s greatest assets. The technical resources on the staff have a vast depth and breadth of IT knowledge. This knowledge spans horizontally across all major OEMs – HP, SUN, IBM and Dell – as well as vertically within each OEM’s offerings – servers, storage, networking and software. This unprecedented foundation of knowledge is the greatest tool that CSU possesses in its vast array of tools to service CSU customers and end-users. The greatest challenge in harnessing and utilizing this tool is that much of the knowledge resides in the technical team’s heads, computers, book shelves and browsers. CSU has finally found and implemented the answer to this challenge – The CSU Collaboration Initiative.
CSU Industries is a privately owned HP & Dell Channel Partner, founded in 1980, that specializes in sales, storage, and support solutions of HP, SUN, DELL, CISCO, IBM and other IT hardware and software.
